The hiking tour to Thethi  was thought and offered from local people of Thethi, who will not offer you just a guide but you will dive in this local lifestyle and have a unique experience from this remote wild area of Thethi National Park, part of the Albanian Alps. Wild because the nature is still virgin, untouched, unexplored and with unbeaten paths. In three days you will have the possibility to relax, enjoy the beauty of the main destinations of Thethi, like the waterfall and canyon, the Blue Eye and Stone Groves, the church and the lock in tower, the accommodation in traditional guesthouses called ‘kulla’; have a dinner with local homemade and organic food, and experience Albanian welcoming in person.

We also give the possibility to challenging hikers to discuss hiking options, in the sense that instead of doing a specific destination choose doing another one.

Day 1: Tirane – Shkodra – Thethi National Park

The departure from Tirana is from 06:00 AM and reaches Shkodra around 07:30 AM to catch the next minivan of the line Shkodra – Thethi. This solution comes out because there is no direct line Tirana – Thethi. After around 4 hours of drive, you will reach Thethi accommodation around 10:30 AM.

Pass By: Qafe e Thores

On the way to Thethi an optional stop could be at Qafe e Thores, at the highest point of the way to Thethi at 1700 m, where you can enjoy the view of the high peaks around, have a coffee or drink at Buni i Bajraktarit, a touristic complex placed there.

Stop at: Thethi Valley – Stone Groves – Blue Eye

Accommodation around 10:30 AM. Drop off the luggage at the guesthouse.

The Stone Groves of Nderlysa are some rock formations, rose color, created by the abundant flow of black river water descending from the village of Kaprre in Thethi valley, are the first attraction we will meet after 90 min easy walking in the middle of nature along Thethi’s river.

After a short break here, the tour will proceed toward the Blue Eye, for 50 min moderate hiking.

Blue Eye of Theth, placed in Kaprre, is a deep blue water hole in the middle of the woods furnished from the Black River. Until the Blue Eye is a pedestrian route and takes about 40 to 60 minutes of regular walking. This attraction is an unexpected beauty, as described by previous tourists.

Don’t forget to bring your swimming ware because you can swim at both attractions explained above and spend the rest of the day there till the sunset. 1.5 hours way back at the guesthouse by walking. A local transfer is optional (extra charge)

Day 2: Valbona Pass or (Peja Golf – optional)

 Pass By: Thethi National Park, Shkoder County

After an early breakfast, at around 07:30 AM the day will start hiking toward Valbona Pass for around 6-7 hours round trip. This is the most famous hiking trail in Albanian Alps and the most trafficked one during the season.

This trail will lead you through the villages of Theth, through the forests and pastures of the National Park to the golf of Valbona pass at 1750 mt. From this point, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the valleys of Valbona and Thethi.

You can decide to consume your lunch box here, at the highest point, or at Zef’s Cottage – Bar, 40 min before you reach the top. This Bar is a pleasant spot where you can meet travelers from all over the world.

Return at the guesthouse at the late afternoon. Relax with a cold drink.

Day 3: Thethi Waterfall – Grunasi Canyon – Lock-in Tower – St. John Church

Stop At: Theth, Shkoder County

After the breakfast in the guesthouse, starting at 09:00 AM, you will be guided to Grunasi Waterfall and Grunasi Canyon. On the way back from these attractions, you will relax in Thethi’s meadows and visit Saint John Church, Ethnographic Museum, and the Lock-in Tower.

Return at the guesthouse at around 12.00 and be ready for the minivan pick up to Shkodra. Travel time from Thethi to Shkodra is 2.5 hours. From Shkodra to Tirana, you will exchange and get an intercity bus or a shared minivan back to Tirana.
